Open the file. Double-click Eyva-Mark-1.dmg in your Downloads folder.
Drag Eyva into Applications. Drop the Eyva icon on the Applications folder in the window that opens.
Open Eyva from Applications. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without a warning.

Below: what macOS may ask, what you need, the 18+ line, how to check your copy, updates, older versions and uninstalling.

What macOS may ask

The first time Eyva needs something macOS protects, macOS asks you. Eyva asks only when a feature needs it, and never all at once. Refusing one does not stop the others, and you can change your mind later in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security. What macOS can ask for:

Accessibility, to press buttons or type in another app for you.
Screen Recording, to look at your screen when you ask it to.
Microphone and Speech Recognition, to turn what you say into text.
Camera, to look through the camera when you ask it to.
Calendars, Reminders and Contacts, to read them or change one when you ask.
Files & Folders (Desktop, Documents, Downloads and drives) and Photos, to open what you point it at.
Automation, to send an instruction to another app, such as Mail or Calendar.
Location and Local Network, only for a task that needs them.

System requirements

Computer: A Mac with Apple silicon: an M1 chip or later. Eyva does not run on Intel Macs.
System: macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Every test so far has been on macOS 26; if you are on 14 or 15 and something does not work, please tell us.
Memory: 16 GB, the one size we have measured. On a Mac with a different amount, Eyva says that no model has been measured for it and suggests none.
Disk: About 2.3 GB for the memory model, plus the local model it suggests. Eyva shows that model’s size before it downloads.
Runtime: Built in. Eyva brings its own model runner, so there is nothing else to install.

For adults only

Companion chatbots may not be suitable for some minors. Eyva is made for adults: you must be 18 or older to use it. On first launch it asks whether you are 18 or older. What Eyva does if you may be in danger is in its Crisis and Safety Protocol.

Verify the download

The app and the disk image are signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. The developer name macOS shows is the founder’s, because the Apple account is an individual one for now.

To check that your copy is the one we published, open Terminal and run the line below, then compare the result with the checksum here. If they differ, do not open the file; download it again.

The first time it opens

No account and no sign-in for anything on your computer. Eyva asks three things: a language, a disclosure you accept, and whether to download the local model it suggests now or later, with its size shown first. Its memory model, about 2.27 GB, downloads once.

Local-only is on at first. Turning it off lets hard, careful or code work go to Eyva’s cloud, masked by the veil. As of version 1.0, cloud replies and paid plans are not offered to accounts in the EU/EEA, the UK or Türkiye; there Eyva runs fully on your Mac. More questions

Today’s limitThe window is blank while the memory model downloads, and that download does not ask first yet. Windows is planned, with no date.

Updates and older versions

Eyva does not update itself. When a new version exists, it will be on this page as a new download: get it the same way and replace the app in Applications. Eyva never installs over itself without you.

Older versions: none yet. This is the first release.
